What's New?

What's New?
Assignment 9 has been posted.
We learned about how to tell a ghostly tale this week. I've posted links to some of the stories shared in class on the Assignment page.
Only one person's figured out the chef's secret so far, although at least one other person is close. I'm extending this challenge another week.
We learned about knots and their importance to sailors this week. Check out Emmy's story and all the others accessible through the Calendar.
Read through the new stories this week and see if you can figure out the chef's secret. If you can, email me and your character will be dining on only the best food for the rest of the trip!
I've posted the page about Cape Verde and this week's assignment. Check out the new photo album and see for yourself what Lucky, Hilot and some of the tools used on the ship look like.
Check out the latest writings by Agent X, Hilot, Mary Tuna, Mary Grace, Matikhara and Sipho!  Access them all through the calendar.
(Check back for the latest character creations.)
Are you finding it difficult to come up with new ideas? Try the brand-new Writing Inspirer!

Try to write a story around the words (and character) given. If you manage the Super-Bonus, my sources tell me that you may develop an immunity to seasickness for a month!

Check the calendar and read what's been going on with Janis, Mary Tuna, Mary Grace Brown, Agent X, Bartholomeu and Hilot. You may notice that a few entries have been shifted slightly in the calendar. This was necessary in a few places because people were discussing the same event on different days!
Check out the new resources on the Favorite Links.
The itinerary now shows the distances been the major ports.
The next assignment is posted, which uses our new vocabulary resource.
Entries are now posted by calendar date. I've posted all of the entries that I have received at this point. If you don't see something that you think you have given me, please let me know immediately.

Feel free to write and send me more of your story even if it's not part of the assignment!

  • Check how seasick you are—there have been changes this week.
  • Check out what your job is.
  • Check what you and your fellow passengers' phrenological readings revealed.
  • Brush up on your phrenology.

  • More updates forthcoming...
These links will be moved to the Favorite Links page soon, so I can make way for more new items!

    Questions About Our Trip

(In my generosity, I have allowed everybody to ask one Yes-No question about the trip. I am so kind that I will even provide you with the answers!)

    Q:

Will this be in present time?
        A:   No

    Q:

Are we going to the past?
        A:   Yes

    Q:

      Will we start off together?
        A:   Yes

    Q:

Will I get in trouble on this trip?
A:   Technically, this not a Yes-No question, but since you asked...

We here at the Writing Fantasy Trip Travel Company Ltd. endeavor to place our clients only on the safest of trips. Regretfully, sometimes our clients break the rules and get into trouble, despite our best efforts to help keep everybody safe. Clients therefore, must assume all responsibility when it comes to their behavior and safety.

    Q:

Are our characters allowed to have limited magical abilities, i.e, healing cuts/bruises/ broken bones, but not bringing people back from the dead?
        A:   No, but...

Your character loves plants and probably can create real cures using them. (For instance, perhaps she needs to look for some arnica to heal bruises, etc.) Also, since you know that we are heading into the past, keep in mind that some things that we know and take for granted would seem like magic to those around. This could be a problem with the people you meet, so be very careful.

    Q:

      Is it in Brazil?
A:   Part of it -- good grief, you must be psychic! How did you ever come up with that question?

    Q:

      Will there be villains?
A:   It depends upon your point of view!

    Q:

      Can I hitchhike?
A:   It is a never wise thing to do!

    Q:

Can you trade borrow or lend items to or from another person?
        A:   Yes.
